Looking to further my experience in the creative industry I interned with the lovely Print Club London. I had a few days in the studio filling in for technicians and screen printing posters for upcoming shows. I also helped out at Somerset House with the Film4 Summer Screening, where they were running an exhibition of printed film posters. My job was to engage with the public and get people interested and involved. I also answered any questions the public had and made sure all posters were well stocked. I went back to the studios for a day to help with a special event hosted for some bloggers where I helped set up and got involved showing them how to strip and clean screens.
I interned with Jealous Prints, which was a great opportunity to see professional screen printers at work. It taught me the processes needed to work in a professional environment and how to make prints to one of the highest standards in the industry. I made sure to keep asking questions and for new jobs so I could learn as much as possible. Some of my roles included stripping screens, gold leafing, diamond dusting, professional wrapping and packaging, colour mixing and of course being the intern, making an amazing cup of tea.
After my degree I pursued a dream of working for Uniqlo, a job I travelled 2 hours a day to and from, 5 days a week, for 3 months. The job taught me many things, the best of which being how to give great customer service. After a couple months I realised I wanted to work on something more relevant to my degree and so at the end of my probation period I left Uniqlo. I didn’t particularly enjoy the work there but I learnt how to give my all to a job that I didn’t particularly get on with. I was very proud of all the work I did there.
