About me
Camilla Robinson is a London based Independent Filmmaker, and Creative Director of Dapper Films. Her arresting, award nominated films are defined by a striking visual flair and a dark sense of humour. She makes art film and films about art for organisations such as Tate and BBC4. As a creative gun for hire she has collaborated with artists, musicians, fashion designers, architects and comediennes to produce innovative, intelligent, experimental and visually stunning films that have been selected for competition and exhibited internationally. A bit of a magpie with a broad range of interests, she can turn her hand to both original creative content or documentary, and her travels, fine art education and study of cinematic production design at Pinewood Studios, lend all projects a depth of knowledge, idiosyncratic approach and unique visual style,. Camilla has many technical production and design skills, and is a strong team leader and teacher. As well as producing, directing and designing, she is an experienced videographer and editor, and has run film-making workshops for Tate Modern, Tate Liverpool, Tate Britain and Alain de Botton's School of Life. Commissioners include TATE, Living Architecture, the British Council, RIBA, Somerset House, One Dot Zero, Alan Cristea Gallery, Emelia Wickstead, Phoebe Coleman, Denizen Works, L'Oreal and magazines such as Wallpaper, Dezeen, Dazed and Confused, Let them eat cake, Volt, Nowness, BBC. She was recently awarded an Arts Council / British Council International Artist's Development Award and was finalist Funny Women & Huffington Post comedy short film of the year award. Awards nominations and competition selection include London Film Festival, London Short Film Festival, Vauxhall new talent, Co-filmic, ASVOF, Funny Women.
Projects
  • (Re)Make
(Re)Make(Re)Make, a new artwork by dance artist Sara Wookey in collaboration with filmmaker Camilla Robinson. This specially-commissioned work was created when the museum was still an empty shell, during construction in 2018. It explores themes of making, un-making and re-making in the creative process and within a unique spatial setting. (Re)Make sets out to stretch our expectations of what architecture, dance, film and the museum look and feel like.
