About me
My name is Carla Ruy-Wamba and I graduated from Advertising and Communication Bachelor from Blanquerna University in Barcelona. Despite being at an early stage of my career, I am very motivated to begin my professional path in one of the most promising and growing fashion and luxury platforms in the world. If I had to define myself in a few lines I would say that I am simple and dreamy. I am open and with high adaptability to all situations. I try to be as demanding as I can with myself. With my eyes aimed at being a future creative and communication expert, I want to learn and work to define myself as a masterful professional. I can focus and pursue tasks and projects in a highly demanding environment, I am myself keen on preserving a competitive and competent level of performance, yet I enjoy teamwork and believe that real success can only be achieved through mutual efforts, flexibility, and adaptability. One of my key strengths is the ability to learn fast and think out of the box; be creative and think differently. For me creativity is a way of life; it gives you the power to change and constantly improve our lives. New ideas bring us new perspectives. As a marketing assistant in Fossil, a global fashion company with strong presence in Barcelona, that manages brands as Michael Kors, Emporio Armani, Adidas…, I had the opportunity to assist four brand managers. The industries and the businesses, though similar, were never the same, yet they had something in common: the approach needed to successfully perform was always multi-disciplinary. Expertise was necessary, but most importantly the whole picture had to be seen. I had to take into account number of things: target, brand perceived image, cultural background, competition, design, stakeholders… The clue for performing well was having a good perception of the broader image. As an online Woman’s merchandiser at Mango, one of the most valued fashion brands in the world, I had the opportunity to learn about the brand image and the complexity to drive successfully the Woman’s Mango website. I learned about the importance of displaying correctly all products to entice customers to purchase and ensure optimum images on web. Also I learned the value and the complexity of art direction and brand image process: transmitting a brand as a Mango through web images, collections and campaigns is a daily challenge that has made me understand the value of constant creation and innovation. I have had the pleasure to have worked on several projects alongside the best people in the business. In terms of activities and skills outside of work and academics, I believe that literature, arts and photography have been an important source of inspiration and motivation. It all goes back to the importance of a holistic view: art and humanities complete my analytical education on advertising, which allow me to face projects with a wider perspective.
