Reason for leaving: Finishing my Master course at Royal College of Art, taking the final months to complete my final collection and curate final exhibition
I was the main designer for this small handbag and jewellery company. While I was there, I also launched their clothing collection. With every collection, seeing through all aspects of production, from initial concepts to finished pieces. I created technical packs for our manufacturers in Bali, and was the key communicator for the clothing and handbag collections, maintaining a professional dialogue with overseas textile producers, product manufacturers, and artisans. Technical fit and design details were altered and communicated for production. Other responsibilities included organising the lookbook and product photoshoots - deciding the desired aesthetic and mood, creating moodboard presentations, discussing direction with photographer and videographer, booking the location and models, generating the shoot schedule and other general organisation for the day. Reason for leaving: I accepted my place at Royal College of Art. I moved to London at the beginning in August to undertake my Master's degree in Textile Design.
Here I assisted the Creative and Technical Design teams - drawing technical flats on Canvas, adjusting patterns and sewing samples, tailoring garments, sourcing materials and general support for the design teams. Having a position on both the creative and technical side, it was critical for me to be in constant communication with all designers, to prioritise responsibilities. After a few months at Designers Remix, I began to create my own garment sketches and technical mock-ups, which ended up being included within the Little Remix collection, their children’s line. During this role I was also a central person before and during fashion shows. Helping to organise models, lineup, accessories, etc. This could include anything from spray painting 40 pairs of shoes, to fitting garments, to general organisation the day of the show. Reason for leaving: I was in an accident that lead me to stay in the hospital for 2 months, and thereafter went through intensive physical therapy.
My work at Marc by Marc Jacobs was primarily in the retail boutique. Here I built a strong knowledge of their products, as well as an acute comprehension of my client’s tastes and preferences. I was able to create full service experience for my clients, contacting them when new seasons arrived, advising them on items to suit their personal style and taste. My eye for aesthetics and excitement for systematising led me to assist with visual merchandising of the boutique, as well as pitching seasonal window displays, which would not only include design concepts, but product sourcing to fit within budget, and planning of the window build. Reason for leaving: I moved to Denmark in the summer of 2011.
At Levi’s, I was a Seamstress in the Customisation department. This was a great experience, working one-on-one with customers to design personalised additions to their Levis products. In this position I obtained further knowledge of print, embroidery, abrasion and construction of jeans. I was responsible for documenting projects being carried out including details of construction, materials being used, and scheduled deadline. This was a constantly busy environment, always needing to stay calm and initiate effective solutions under pressure. Here I further developed an insightful professional language and understanding of working with a proficient approach. Reason for leaving: I decided to take a few months traveling before returning to degree studies and internship at Holy Stitch Denim Social Club.
Also received a minor in Environmental Studies
