- Barber Shop ChroniclesInua Ellams play leaps from Peckham to Johannesburg, Harare, Kampala, Lagos and Accra to show how African men gather in barber shops to discuss women, fatherhood, football, politics and the state of the world. The image puts the audience right in the barber chair, with the title handpainted on the wall in the style of the barber shop signs found in Africa. - People, Places & ThingsThe play tells the story of an actress struggling with drug-addiction. She reluctantly enters rehab, but refuses to respect the rules of the programme, or even to give the doctor her real name. The campaign image is inspired by Francis Bacon portraits, and suggests the multiple facets of the unreliable narrator. Photography by John Spinks
- Les BlancsWritten by a civil-rights activist, ‘Les Blancs’ (the Whites) tells the story of an African man who returns from Europe to find that racial tensions and anti-colonialist feelings have brought his country to the brink of civil war. The campaign image introduces ‘The Woman’, a mysterious character who haunts the hero and urges him to join the fight. The title across her face references both tribal paintings and protest markings.
