    Junior Graphic DesignerH2O Publishing
     - Gravesend, United KingdomFull Time
This was my first 'Full time' role as a Graphic Designer, after gaining experience from my internship placements at BBH and The Chelsea Magazine Company. Firstly, H2O Publishing is a publishing company which works on 16 leading-industry magazines across all sectors and over 25 events in conjunction with these magazines. Throughout my time at H2O Publishing it was filled with rapid improvements by gaining in-office experience, adapting to working as a collective as well as an individual. Collating daily and weekly tasks and prioritising them accordingly to ensure all deadlines are met. Working in a publishing industry, deadlines were crucial and they had very limited ability to shift. Engraining the ability to meet deadlines was one of the most necessary traits which a successful Graphic Designer needs in their industry. Within months, I felt settled into the team. Taking tasks on myself and naturally distributing and understanding the workflow of the studio, offering myself if someone else had too much work themselves. The print understanding I gained from H2O Publishing was invaluable, learning about composition and aspect ratio. Beginning to understand how the user would read and where their eye would move across the page was something I found especially interesting and is an element of design I'd like to look further into as I begin to use this across more digital platforms.

Throughout my time at MidKent College, I really enjoyed developing myself as not only a creative but as an individual. Having an extremely close bond with my tutor, Babs Jossi, helped make my whole college experience worthwhile; reigniting my passion for design and pushing me to enter competitions. WorldSkillsUK being the most notable competition which I'd entered during my studies, throughout this national competition I'd managed to find myself in the final which was held at the Birmingham NEC at a live event. After competing at the event for 3 days meeting the brief and then presenting my final outcomes to the 5 judges, with reasoning behind each of my decisions in the designs. Luckily enough, I'd managed to secure first place and a gold medal at this national competition, which was one of the proudest days in my life. After winning this competition, I began to throw myself into everything to help improve myself whilst completing my studies. Designing and re-branding a whole Production/Theatre company, called the 'Glassbox Theatre' in Gillingham and also managing to achieve KFE's 'Best Illustrator' award in 2018. Once finishing my studies at MidKent College, I'd managed to obtain the highest grade possible D*DD. Onwards and upwards from here now.
