My name is Catherine Jones; former English teacher turned generalist copywriter. From Bognor Regis on the UK’s sunny south coast, I work with agencies, businesses and individuals to find the words that connect their objectives with their audience’s needs.
I help businesses rethink and renew their online presence by developing a fresh tone of voice for their content that really resonates with their target audience. In my development workshops, I collaborate with clients to create brand language and plan content by aligning their audience and goals with what’s unique and special about about their business. From this, I can write the engaging, effective website copy, blogs, content, straplines and elevator copy needed to get their message across, simply and concisely.
As a generalist copywriter I write for both B2B and B2C, working with businesses of all sizes – from startups to agencies and international brands. The sectors I have written for include finance, B2B tech, food, marketing, education, lifestyle, parenting, health, events and garden design. Being a generalist means I come at projects from an outsider’s perspective, which is useful for experts immersed in their subject matter who may need a fresh take. A client’s subject matter expertise combined with my writing expertise brings the best of both worlds to inform and engage the reader.
I also offer copy-editing as a service. My teaching and examining background has given me a sharp eye for detail and accuracy, and the ability to draw out a clear line of argument from a piece of writing. I particularly love to help other writers clarify and finesse their work, to drill down into what they really want to say and ensure every sentence adds value.
