Artist and Freelance Festival Set Dresser and DecoratorManchester, United Kingdom
About me
I am an ambitious, enthusiastic, creative individual, currently working in the festival set design industry. The UK is home to some of the best festivals in the world, and I am fortunate enough to have worked on many shows including; Glastonbury and Parklife. I am a graduate from Manchester School of Art and gained this work experience whilst studying for my degree. I have worked freelance for nearly 2 years, and I am looking for further work in the creative sector or design or events industry.
Projects

Liverpool Junkyard GolfFor this project I was working with Decordia, to dress and decorate the sets at Liverpool Junkyard Golf. I worked on painting the walls, rusting down painted walls, and dressing the pig in the boat set.

Kendal Calling 2016 - Official AftermovieOver the weekend of the 29th-31st July, the multiple award winning Kendal Calling festival was held in Lowther Deer Park in the Lake District. With a strong lineup consisting of acts like Madness, Rudimental, The Libertines, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, Craig David etc, the festival was set to be one of the best. It did not disappoint. Relive the weekend here. I shot and edited the entire video.
  • Parklife
ParklifeFanatic have been the official photography for Parklife festival since 2015. Year after year Parklife manage to boast one of the UK's most impressive line-ups, with some of the biggest names in music playing in Heaton Park, Manchester. It's no surprise the audience really go for it here, our aim is to really capture the relentless energy come rain or shine. All images © Fanatic.

Onsite at Festivals I work within a team to fulfil a set brief. We work in a fast paced environment to build and decorate the sets on a tight time scale. Work involves dressing, painting and creating installations. When I am not on site at Festivals, I prepare for the shows in the office, creating the artwork and putting together the scene, as well as other general office tasks such as booking travel to various locations in the UK, and taking calls from clients. Due to the demands of numerous shows this often requires work on multiple briefs at once. I have developed strong diary management and organizational skills whilst working on these briefs. I also work on the company website, uploading images in the correct size and format, and editing the text. Furthermore, I have been posting for their social media. By using selected hashtags and uploading often, the followers have increased dramatically.

In my artistic practice, I create work in response to a site. I challenge the context of a site, by removing fragments of the place and showing them in a different context to where they were found. I take inspiration from artists such as Christo and Jeanne Claude, Rachel Whiteread and Gavin Turk.
