I never wanted a 9-5 job. Since leaving University I’ve taken on roles and side-projects that have become more than ‘just a job’ to me. From launching Girls Empowered, a networking community for women in their twenties entering the workplace, to leading the ByBox marketing department and later, communications and content.
For the past five years I’ve helped small businesses and start-ups design marketing campaigns that work, develop house content styles and run successful events – alongside a full-time career.
Now that is my full-time career. I still run Girls Empowered and I’ve add Space. to my network of communities, a co-working network for self-employed individuals. I help businesses to reach their target audiences through well-written communications, attention-grabbing content and creative marketing tactics. And I run events - for myself, my communities and for small businesses.
It may sound like I have a lot going on but let me boil it down. I believe in good writing, increasing sales through clever marketing and helping individuals to work better and smarter – whether that’s through co-working spaces, supportive communities or one-to-one mentoring.

At the beginning of 2017, I found myself looking for a networking/business support group specifically aimed at women in their 20s in my hometown of Leicester. I couldn't find one that worked for me, so in May I launched Girls Empowered.
Girls Empowered aims to provide young women mentoring, guidance and support in their careers - whether they're climbing the corporate ladder, or starting their own business - through events and an online community.
Since launching, attendees of Girls Empowered events have gone on to quit jobs and launch businesses, ask for pay rises and promotions, and have got involved in community projects together.

During my time at University of the Creative Arts I produced extensive articles and reviews using Adobe InDesign and Photoshop. These were thoroughly backed up with information conducted by target analysis and socio demographic profiles alongside various other research methods. I worked on my interview skills and published profiles on graduating Fashion Designers and a London based photographer. I regularly contributed to fashion blogs and websites and undertook a three month internship in PR. My responsibilities when interning included writing and issuing press releases for clients and magazines, liaising with fashion stylists and managing the loan and return of a designer’s collection. I also managed a small team of interns during London Fashion Week setting tasks and ensuring that the showroom operated efficiently.
