I run ABA therapy sessions for children with ASD. It is my duty to ensure the programs set by consultants are run efficiently and are tailored to the individual child. Coming from a Fine Art degree helps me approach my work from a creative perspective and I enjoy creating fun and exciting lessons. It is important to me that the children I work with are happy when they’re learning and also that they feel capable and comfortable to express themselves and communicate their needs, wants, and emotions. Every child I have worked with is unique so their programs, progress and achievements are also unique.

ABA tutorBeyond Autism

For two years I worked as an ABA tutor for Beyond Autism schools. At Beyond Autism I received extensive training from various professionals, and being in a school gave me the opportunity to work with children of all ages, across the autism spectrum. Working at Beyond Autism really propelled my knowledge and understanding of ABA and autism which in turn has installed confidence and professionalism in the work I do today. I received training in ABA, VB, safeguarding, team teach, makaton sign language, proloquo, and some speech and language and occupational therapy practice. I occasionally ran group art lessons, which taught me to “think outside the box” in terms of making the lessons fun and engaging for multiple children at one time. I also organised and ran art groups for the schools production of Grease the musical, to get all the children and staff involved in the making of props and costumes. I designed all the props and costumes needed and allocated art lessons to each class for their tutors to run, as well as making a lot of props and costumes myself with the children during art lessons and with colleagues after school.
