I took this course at GA because I wanted to learn new skills in order to create products for people, from a UX perspective. Although I have always worked in the line of work that involves people, this has changed and evolved over the years. I have particularly focused on growth and development with individuals. I then became a life coach where I was able to widen my scope to work with individuals around their career aspirations and also with other aspects of their lives such as relationships and finances. Still after some time, I had a desire and yearning to evolve, so I worked on a huge scale with up to 900 people in a company, where I was able to coach them with their welfare in the professional work environment and now I aim and dream of working with products that will reach the masses and be usable and useful. By working in the UX world, I love that I will still have an opportunity to interact with people on an individual level, through research and testing thus maintaining that human contact. GA taught me the skills necessary, and provided the exact environment in order to implement the theory that I already learned about UX and turn it into practical experience. I gained confidence from being at GA and exposure to real world UX issues that I might not have had the chance to experience otherwise. I bring transferable skills from life, and previous roles, some elements of these are empathy, curiosity, creativity and active listening. So although the jump into UX design/research is big, I believe that I already have a head start.
