CHRISTINE MURPHY has written for film, television and radio.
She graduated in 2001 from the London College of Communication with an MA in Screenwriting and in 2003 was nominated for the Dennis Potter Award for GYPSY BABY.
She has written for long-running television shows such as Eastenders, Emmerdale and Doctors.
In 2009, Christine won the Northern Ireland Screen Low Budget Fiction Feature Fund for CUP CAKE. It won the Audience Award when it premiered at the Belfast Film Festival in 2010. It also won the Grand Prix at the Rhode Island International Film Festival and Best Feature at the Flickers North Country Film Festival in New Hampshire.
In 2011, Christine was one of ten writers selected to take part in a unique TV Series Development Course with Lisa Albert and Janet Leahy, writers/producers of MAD MEN.
In 2013, Christine won Best Radio Script at the Irish Writers' Guild Zebbie Awards for KICKING THE AIR, her debut radio play for BBC Radio 4, starring Sophia Myles and Vicky McClure. Vicky won the BBC Audio Drama best supporting actress award for her performance as Lulu.
In October 2016, Christine's feature script was one of eight projects selected for the eQuinoxe European Script Workshop in Bavaria. She worked with mentors Danny Rubin (Groundhog Day), Carl Gottlieb (Jaws), Susan Schulte, Michael West and Claire Dobbin.
She has also recently completed the script for the feature film THE SECRET PEACEMAKER for New Decade Productions & NI Screen. Adrian Dunbar is attached to direct.
Currently: Christine's television comedy-drama series HAPPY AS LARRY, based on short stories by Frank O'Connor, is in development with Tyrone Productions.

- THERE ARE NO HOMOSEXUALS IN IRANTHERE ARE NO HOMOSEXUALS IN IRAN is the feature script adapation of Christine Murphy's award-winning BBC Radio 4 drama KICKING THE AIR. It is the story of Reza Mostafai, a young gay Iranian who is being fast-tracked out of the UK and back to Iran, where he faces almost certain death. Reza and his friends fight desperately to prevent his deportation, but the clock is ticking and they are running out of options.
