About me
I am a professional copywriter specialising in content marketing for businesses. I have a background in journalism, meaning clear, concise and correct copy written to deadline is a particular strength, while my experience in marketing ensures expertise in SEO, social media, inbound marketing strategies, tone of voice and lead generation. What I do... I specialise in copywriting, blogging and content marketing for businesses, and I have a background in journalism - I was a digital editor of a regional newspaper before I started working for myself seven years ago. This means that while I understand the ins-and-outs of SEO copy, inbound marketing strategies, tone of voice and lead generation, I also have an understanding how people consume what they read, knowing the importance of headlines, grammar, writing to deadline and getting the story or message across in a clear, concise and easily-digestible way. I also enjoy the creative process of creating content, from the ideas stage to publication and follow-up social media campaigns. What I've done before... I have written for a variety of clients, from B2B big businesses to consumer-focused start-ups. While much of my online portfolio shows the bigger pieces I have completed, there is plenty not on show (website copy, blogs, newsletters, landing pages etc) for the likes of Yell.com, 118 118 and NHS. Something specific... My most relevant experience for this role is my stint being involved in a food and travel blog, Yorkshire Pudd, which was highly commended at the UK Blog Awards during the time I was part of it. My subject matters included travel and hospitality, and incorporated a wide variety of content, from interviews to restaurant reviews, video and photo galleries to highly shareable and SEO-friendly features. Blogging allows me to really take on a tone of voice that goes beyond corporate-speak, always keeps a specific audience in mind and appeals to them directly. This is always my favourite way of writing. I also wrote regularly for Olive food magazine.
