I have experience in working across a number of industries in a number of areas: from developing narratives, messaging and thought papers to interviewing for podcasts, creating content campaigns and facilitating workshops. Claire StaffordThe light was on – it was Chiara’s signal to move. She had to reach the Alpini, stationed high above the town before daybreak. Chiara felt an enormous sense of responsibility and pride in being a messenger, especially for someone so young. Life in the town was depressing, uncomfortable, and being a messenger meant escaping the place she called home, even though it felt anything but. The enemy was round each corner, watching everyone’s move and Chiara prayed the information she carried was enough

Claire StaffordI put the camera down. I want to watch the child, so calm and focused. We both know what is about to take place, and I’m more anxious. This boy to man ritual feels wrong; he is too young with many years of childhood to enjoy, and although I’ve spent time with his family, building up their trust and respect, I’m powerless to stop it. And I shouldn’t, it’s tradition, what I came here to document. As a photographer, I report and capture our world, in all its beauty and horror. I bring the camera

Claire StaffordAnother quiet day again. It’s the third day in a row I’ve been walked past and not used. But I know I can rely on Jake. He makes one call a week and it’s my life-line. It’s not long till he makes his next call and it could be a big one; he’ll find out if he’s made it in to university. Jake’s had a tough time throughout college but worked his butt off to, hopefully, get a place. When he leaves it will be a sad day, and maybe the end of me.

Claire StaffordI know what they are thinking, who’s she to flash her wealth around here with her leather jacket and fancy skirt? Look at them though; timid, dowdy, boring. Probably why I’d never noticed them at school now I think about it. They’re pretty dull. I almost feel like running up to them and scaring them. Ha! I can just see their faces. For now though, I’ll just let them watch me, because when they run home to tell their parents who they saw, they’ll be confronted with looks of despair and probably t

Claire StaffordElla watched her friends enjoy the last of the evening sun. Summer was drawing to a close and in a few short weeks their lives would change forever. They would never feel the sun on their faces or the sand between their toes again. No late nights, hanging out talking to the lifeguards or swimming in the warm, open waters. Ella’s friends will never understand why, and there will be no chance to explain, but there is no other way. It is the right thing to do, for her mother. Ella didn’t think it w
