About me
The short story: Journalist, editor, branded content expert and copywriter with over 15 years experience working for some of the biggest publications and brands in the UK. The slightly longer story: I’ve done a lot of different things during my career, but great storytelling has always been at the heart of what I do. I started out writing real life and human interest stories for magazines and newspapers, interviewing people with incredible experiences and learning that everyone has an amazing tale to tell — you just need to know how to get it out of them. I went on to work on the features desks of magazines including Grazia, Cosmopolitan, Fabulous and Marie Claire, covering the latest trends in lifestyle, culture and the world of work and commissioning and editing great writers to do the same. I’m now freelance and my work features in BBC Culture, The Telegraph Magazine, Stella and The Times among others. Over the past few years I’ve also applied my journalistic experience to help brands tell their stories in an authentic and impactful way, working on branded content projects and providing social, email newsletter and long form copywriting services. I've created content (print and digital) for companies including Marks and Spencer, MasterCard, Shiseido, Warner Bros, Jo Malone, Dove and Vue Cinemas. I always love to connect with new people and discuss potential projects so if you think we could work together please do get in touch. You can check out some of my work on my website, clarethorp.com.
