About me
Clary Estes is a freelance writer and photographer from Central Kentucky. She received her MA in New Media Photojournalism from the Corcoran College of Art and Design in Washington DC. Following her graduation from the Corcoran, Clary was awarded a two-year documentary photography fellowship from the Ishibashi Zaidan Foundation in Japan under Nagoya University where she lived and worked in both Japan and China. She has previously lived and worked in China, Moldova and the US and is currently living and working in the Republic of Georgia as a Freelance Journalist. More generally, her work is focused on rural and underrepresented issues and incorporates history as an important aspect of visual storytelling. Clary has been the recipient of; the New York Times Portfolio Review, DOFOTO Contest Finalist, Visura Grant Honorable Mention for Outstanding Personal Project, Cortona on the Move Scholarship by Visura to participate in the Erotic Eye Workshop with Donna Ferrato, Ishibashi Zaidan Fellowship Award, as well as the Graduate Fellowship Award, Polly Logan Award for Women in the Arts, and the Dean’s Award, at the Corcoran College of Art and Design.
