Being a set designer is allowing me to travel both physically and mentally. It is a possibility to cross different landscape, to be at the same time a craftsman, a designer, a technician and a builder. Like an actor who can play different roles, I am allowed – as a scenographer – to travel from one world to another, to be in perpetuate motion. What I really like in scenography is the crossover and relations created between light, architecture, sound, bodies and text.
I chose theatre because unlike cinema we are facing the truth. Because it is mainly an incarnation of life through a performing art. Theatre has this genuineness that I really appreciate, we can not pretend nor start again. The performance is the result of a team work, without cheating or artifice. What I like in theatre and more specifically in set design is the collective effort leading to a performance.
