I’m an Art Editor with over eight years experience working for some of the most prestigious publishing houses in London. I love what I do so am constantly looking for new ways to expand my design repertoire. I’m enthusiastic, creative, reliable and with a good eye for detailLocked Pro Plan feature
I started at Heat as a freelancer working alongside the Creative Director on the brands re-design for several months. This involved a lot of development work and a chance for me to put my stamp on a leading brand. Using my experience. I helped to freshen up and strip back the magazine and transform it into cleaner and more readable title without compromising the original brand. Shortly after I was appointed Art Editor I was set to roll out the re-design that I myself had helped develop. Three years on and heat has buoyant sales and I have made myself and integral part of the team. I often step up as Director of the team when the Creative Director is working on various projects. On a daily basis I manage a very talented team of designers and ensure the smooth running of the art desk. I contribute and art direct the majority of the celebrity shoots as well as over see fashion, beauty and creative solutions. I have countless covers under my belt so am very used to working under pressure to very tight deadlines without compromising on quality.
As I had done such a good job designing the 4th edition of Mode, ShortList invited me back to design the 6th edition. It was another great opportunity for me to art direct a magazine cover to cover and see a project through from start to finish.
I was commissioned to design Women's Health's first fashion supplement, a 24 page special that ran at the back of the issue. It was my job to make it look different and exciting but not too removed from their normal branding and identity.
I was brought in for six months to help launch Grazia’s iPad version using a CMS program that had been specifically developed for Grazia. I also designed regular franchise pages, features, news, fashion and beauty for the print magazine.
I was commissioned to design the 4th issue of Mode (ShortList’s men’s fashion & lifestyle magazine). Working closely with the Fashion Director I designed the magazine cover to cover and commissioned illustrators. ShortList liked the issue I did so much that they tried to commission me again to do the next issue but unfortunately I was unavailable.
During this period I worked at over fifteen magazine titles. This has allowed me to gain valuable experience and expand my design repertoire to digital platforms such as iPad and website. I have worked for the likes of Elle Decoration, Empire, FHM, Grazia, GQ, Heat, Q, MODE and Stylist. I was expected to design at a consistently high standard as well as adapting to different software, deadlines, house styles, systems and working practices.
ShortList Media commissioned me to help launch Emerald Street, Stylist’s daily email. As the soul designer on this project it was my job to design the daily content, house ads and advertorials as well as uploading all the stories onto the website using CMS every day.
As well as coming up with feature ideas for Company Magazine I also organised and art directed my own shoots. I was responsible for designing and retouching all of my own images as well as simultaneously co-designing the Company’s High Street Edit (Company’s bi-annual fashion bible).
I was responsible for the smooth running of the art desk and was assigned advertorials for important clients which I designed alongside entire sections, features and covers.
I worked on the launch of ShortList Magazine. I was responsible for designing the majority of the regular sections such as news, style and features very early on.
