Daniel Rey is a venezuelan artist living and working in London. Through installation, performance, moving image and painting, Rey’s work explores ways to challenge conventional constructs of masculinity rooted in Latin American patriarchal societies and the relationship between queer diasporic bodies and the built environment. Drawing from his background in architecture, he incorporates processes and materials from this discipline in his work, often resulting in ‘hybrid entities.’
His work invites us to imagine structures and possibilities for the emancipation of queer individuals from the constraints of society power structures. His work has been selected for 'Bloomberg New Contemporries' 2023 and has been awarded the LVMH Maison/0 Award The Earth Award 2023.
