I triple-majored in Communication Design, Art History & Visual Culture at Rhodes University. During this time, I co-created an online magazine called Archetype Online. This allowed me to work on really interesting projects, from emerging brands to more current events. I balanced my studies with personal creative work, like illustration and photography. My creative approach — no matter the medium—is almost always stripping the idea to it’s bare minimum and finding the points of tension behind the idea. I do several iterations on each point and usually end up refining the one that resonates most with my idea of composition and balance. Allowing the design to reach clarity.
Assisting with the preparation of the exhibition spaces, unpacking, hanging and the setup of several exhibition spaces. During the run of the exhibitions I was responsible for the continued manning of the Standard Bank Gallery, facilitating the sale of catalogues and engaging informatively with the public.
I handled layout & and all the design aspects of the magazine. This includes the management of the website, copy editing and polishing & refining articles.
Cue is the daily newspaper at the National Arts Festival, and I worked here as a layout designer during the course of the National Arts Festival.
During my studies I did some freelance design work for Typus Branding & Design. This included the design of online banner advertisements for clients of the Daily Maverick.
