Investigative Journalism MA During my time at City I acquired a number of valuable skills. I have gained further experience in news reporting, as well as feature writing – profiles, experience pieces, and investigative features. I have an understanding of spreadsheets and data handling, have written data-led stories, and have created data visualisations to accompany my articles. I am now also familiar with the Adobe programs InDesign and PremierPro. Our assignments taught me to investigate companies and individuals using resources like Companies House and the land registry, and I have submitted a number of Freedom of Information requests as part of my research. I have also conducted a vast number of interviews over the course of my MA, experienced court reporting, done pieces to camera, and co-produced a short investigative film. I am confident in sourcing and researching more complex and hard-hitting topics, having produced investigations into issues like Gibraltar’s anti-abortion laws and the exploitation of girls and young women by London gangs. A group investigation into sexual harassment by driving instructors made the front page of the Sunday Telegraph on 14 April 2019.
