About me
Hello. I'm David Bell. I am an events manager/coordinator residing in Glasgow who has worked on a diverse range of events that are primarily focused on music, art and culture, with recent projects integrating all three. I graduated with a 2:1 in Commercial Music BA (Hons) at University of the West of Scotland, Ayr, Scotland in 2014. During my time at University, I was responsible for organising a string of live music events, including an all-day multi-venue event which saw 20 artists spread out across 6 venues within Glasgow's City Centre. I was responsible for booking all artist and venues; promotion and marketing; liaising with artists, managers, agents and venues; securing sponsorship; budgeting and managing finances; negotiating fees; recruiting and briefing a team of staff to rep at venues, and; post-event evaluation. I have since gone on to do brand partnerships, collaborations as well as cultural events under the name 'Friends of the Fanzine'. Friends of the Fanzine is a collective of artists, musicians and promoters. Our events showcase a diverse range of work from Scottish-based creatives, with mediums ranging from illustrations and photography to fashion and music. We enable relatively new artists to work alongside more experienced artists, and we take an open-minded approach to the work on display - aiming to include as many various mediums and styles as possible. I assume all event management duties again, with primary responsibilities including disseminating important information to our 15+ contributors and promoting the events online via Social Networks and other relevant platforms. As well as this, a large part of my role involves scouting new talent that fits within what we aim to achieve. The success of these nights has led us towards looking in to expansion. We are currently looking for new event spaces, as well considering creative ideas for keeping the brand relevant between events.
