Advised Starling Bank from its inception to raising £48 million from
its initial investor. Has advised hundreds of start-up and growth
technology companies, especially in the life sciences, healthcare,
fintech and energy sectors. Has counselled leading financial
institutions, private equity firms and corporate venture capital funds
on their investments, including Citibank, JP Morgan Chase, Carlyle
Group, Samsung, Dell and Unilever.
Specific sector expertise relating to exchanges:-
Advised Project Heather on its failed attempt to establish a new
Scottish Stock Exchange focused on impact investing;
Astana International Exchange during its negotiations with both
Nasdaq and the Shanghai Stock Exchange;
BIDS Trading in connection with its joint venture with Bats Europe
to establish a block trading service; and
Social Stock Exchange in connection with the establishment of an
impact investing segment of the NEX Exchange.
Currently a partner at Crowell & Moring LLP, a leading global
law firm; has been a partner at leading international law firms
for over 15 years. Recent counsel has included the financing and
development of two Covid-19 vaccines, the acquisition and listing on
Nasdaq of a UK based autonomous EV business and the financing
of a gold backed payments system, Glint Pay.
