I'm a Dublin based motion graphic designer. I have a name that not many can pronounce but most call me Dave. Pushing pixels across multiple screens and making it look easy. Originally educated in graphic design, shortly after college I made my transition to motion graphics and 3D animation working at one of Dublin’s great design studios, Image Now. I was mentored by the Yoda of all things video, David Torpey, co-founder of Image Now. Mainly working with Cinema 4D and the Adobe CC packages I’ve learnt the essential skills required to move an X-wing from position A to position B, and the rest as they say is history.
Gaining experience in motion graphics, 3D modelling and animation I moved forward to another great adventure. This adventure brought me to a company that worked with Ireland’s largest YouTube channels.
Here I worked on various channel identities, which required branding as well as motion graphic pieces such as channel titles, transitions and end screens. I had the pleasure of working on creating game ready assets for a range of video game projects, where I had the responsibility of concepting, modelling, rigging and animating multiple characters and objects to be placed in game. At the beginning there was a great learning curve but by working closely with the in-house developers we produced game ready assets that were interactive and playable.
I am focused and always welcome a challenge. I have the experience I need to get work done and I always look for new ways to learn more.
Currently I am expanding my already great knowledge in motion graphics and everything 3D by learning new techniques in video production, animation, as well as picking up new plug-ins and software packages. Currently tinkering inside of the Unity Game Engine looking at possibilities of creating games, VR and AR experiences.
Projects
- PONGPONG is a short personal project I've done. Playing with colour, composition and basic movement. There were only two keyframes in this entire animation...I know, how amazing :O Software Used: Cinema 4D, After Effects, Premiere Pro Rendered using the built in Physical Engine Music: Magic by Otis McDonald
