Big-haired music PR and Marketer, Radio Producer, music aficionado. Having spent more than a decade actively and deeply involved in cultural and artistic programmes and projects, I am happy to say that the enthusiasm hasn't wore off. The last 5 years found me working exclusively in the music industry, especially on projects that focus on Jazz, Hip Hop, Soul, Funk, Afrobeat. Approaching this industry from various angles: label, promoter, agent, publicist and documenter, I have gained a very detailed view of it's mechanisms; as well as an extremely healthy network of creatives within the industry.
The Expedition Radio Show is hosted by Derrick Ah Sam and produced by Plann.B, Baby Bubba, Delia Teșileanu of Wah Wah 45s (London) & Hossien of Mango Disco Records; the show is edited by Garfield Adams. Every week they bring you two hours of music discovery & discussion playing new music from all points across the map; showcasing emerging, unsigned and indie label artists worldwide. From the freshest in Electronic to Jazz, Afrobeat, Funk, Soul & more, The Expedition Radio Show is THE place to get your new music fix. The show airs on Dash Radio (Los Angeles, USA) and is syndicated by Frission Radio (London, UK).
Projects have included: Ghost Notes, First Word Records 14th Anniversary, Netil Radio (producer for Dom Servini's monthly radio show), The Blackbyrds, etc.
Genre defying, vinyl cutting, gig loving independent UK label. Releasing beautiful music for close to 20 years – soul, Afrobeat, jazz, funk, reggae, dub, electronic music and beyond. Exemplarily led by Dom Servini and Adam Scrimshire, Wah Wah 45s is home to Dele Sosimi, The Milk, Soothsayers, Resonators, Honeyfeet, Paper Tiger, Hunrosa, The Gene Dudley Group, Henri-Pierre Noel and many more. Being heavily active on the release front doesn’t stop Wah Wah 45s from putting on their own events, hosting international festivals and multiple radio shows, and DJing extensively all across the UK and beyond.
AGMP is one of the UK's leading music promoters. Covering all genres of music and all the regions of the country, this role demanded staying up to date with all fast developments of the industry. With more than 350 shows/year, I have managed the Marketing Department under the direction of the General Manager, and worked with acts such as: The Blackbyrds, Larry Mizell, Chaka Khan, Charles Bradley, The Pharcyde, Grandmaster Flash, DJ QBert, Slum Village, Nouvelle Vague, Brand New Heavies, Leroy Hutson, John Scofield, The Impressions, Courtney Pine, Illa J, Roy Hargrove, Sun Ra Arkestra and many, many more.
In the short time I worked with Monique Pennie at Purple Reign PR, I was fortunate to be part of some very special projects such as the 25th anniversary of The Jazz Cafe, the 10th anniversary of The Doctor's Orders, and the 40th anniversary of Lonnie Liston Smith's Expansions, as well as successfully handling press for the following artists’ shows and projects: Charles Bradley, The Brand New Heavies, P.P. Arnold, Avery Sunshine, Carleen Anderson, Maimouna Youssef, Maya Blu, Joyce Sims, Jocelyn Brown, Cymande, The Pharcyde, etc.
Whilst looking after the PR and Marketing Department of the Cultural Centre of Bucharest and working on various cultural projects within the institution* ** ***, I was also the PR Manager for Bucharest Jazz Festival where I got to work alongside New York-based pianist Lucian Ban and a very talented production team on organising the biggest and the only free access jazz festival in Bucharest. More than 5,000 people enjoyed, daily, the greatness of contemporary legends of the international jazz world: Lee Konitz, Terence Blanchard, Roy Hargrove, John Scofield, Carmen Lundy, Dave Douglas, Steve Swallow, and Lizz Wright, as well as of well-known Romanian artists. The press coverage, consisting of national TV features, radio interviews, write-ups and international reviews, and the feedback from the people of Bucharest and the industry were beyond significant. After its third edition, in 2014, Bucharest Jazz Festival became a member of Europe Jazz Network. *International Street Theatre Festival B-FIT in the Street! 2014 & 2015 | Bucharest Music Film Festival 2014– classical music festival | Bucharest Jazz Festival 2014 & 2015 | Spotlight 2015 – International Light Festival | IFEA Regional Conference | Bucharest International Theatre Platform – The Future Is Feminine | Maria Cassi – Attente al Lupo | Jazzaj @ARCUB | Trialoguri @ARCUB **Bucharest.
