Dimitra Barla is an international scriptwriter and actor, working in English, Greek and French. She graduated from the University of East Anglia’s Creative Writing – Scriptwriting Masters program in 2019 and is currently developing feature length screenplays, including novel adaptations.
Dimitra’s theatre work has received four-star press reviews and it has been produced in the UK, Denmark and Greece. She also co-developed the feature film London Unplugged, which enjoyed a theatrical release in the UK and four-star press reviews.
She is passionate about international stories that explore relationships, the female experience and the sense of belonging.

- The Cloakroom AttendantA theatre monologue. Margot, the cloakroom attendant of a national museum, entertains the audience with her daily stories, while weighing the challenges of a serious relationship and of the unavoidable dilemma: ‘to be or not to be a parent? With wit and sensitivity, artefacts become alive and visitors take mythical dimensions. Dante’s condemned lovers, an unfortunate French queen and an inquisitive boy help Margot balance on a suspended world of imagination and aspirations.
- The Velveteen RabbitBoy meets girl. Phil meets Nina. And they roll the dice. From the hot skyline of Athens to the rainy streets of London, they struggle to put together the fragments of their life, while fighting their demons and Phil’s drug addiction. They lose themselves in a roller-coaster of emotions, but gain a new vision of the world through the purifying experience of love.
