I have a versatile skillset including seven years of experience in the music video, film and photography industry. I hold a degree in Design from Goldsmiths University. The course taught an unique approach to developing and evolving ideas. We were always encouraged to collaborate with each other. Following my studies, I believe it was this collaborative process that was crucial to my effectiveness within the film industry.
After studying, I moved to New York to work with a couple design and advertising agencies including BBH, working on their branding strategies and logo design projects.
In 2012, I founded 'I Owe Youth' - a collective of five passionate filmmakers. We designed beautifully printed storyboards, meticulously crafted to impress our clients and win projects. ‘It’s Nice That’ magazine published our printed treatments on their online platform. Later, the collective condensed down to myself and one other founding member. We worked together as a directing partnership, shooting films around the world including a project in Mexico City for Warner Music, with the production team behind the opening scenes of the James Bond's film 'Spectre'.
I spent over a year in Africa and Asia photographing social, environmental and humanitarian projects. My photojournalist style was deeply inspired by Brazilian photographer Sebastian Salgado. Last year, I opened my first photography show in Italy exhibiting my reportage work for a charity fighting for the rights of albino Tanzanians.
Most recently, I’ve been drawn to the world of food, with a mission to seek opportunities for design interventions particularly in the growing vegan food market. I have enjoyed fusing my visual arts and branding background with hands on experience in the kitchen. I am now developing an app to help improve the efficiency of kitchens, employing a Dieter Rams inspired functionality. He said “good design is as little design as possible”.
I have a very pluralistic approach to my work. From an early age I identified as an innovator devising all manners of contraptions inside my dad's workshop. I have always been creative with the tools and materials at my disposal. Today I bring that same mindset into every new challenge and project. In my personal time I enjoy meditation. Similar to filmmaker David Lynch, I have used mindfulness based practices to enrich my creative process.
