The Big Clash

  • Voluntarily I work with an organisation known as The Big Clash which is a community initiative that encourages positive attitudes. I am currently assist in administrative duties such as responding to enquiries, registering applications...etc. The Big Clash provide an innovative social experience through a game show between different universities. Regarding the show I take on a variety of roles on the day such as door staff, games preparation, backstage runner and merchandise. In working with The Big Clash I have improved on my administrative skills, team working skills, customer service skills, ability to multi task and remain attentive during busy environments.

  • My role consisted of assisting the Event Officers and the Team Admin in the management and marketing of the national fundraising events such as the Arcelor Mittal orbit Abseil, Red Shoe Walk, Great North Run and so forth. Regarding administrator duties, I was trained on how to respond to enquiries, manage event registration which included sending fundraising packs and uploading participants onto the database. Regarding the events, I assisted on the logistics of the event with a main focus on the marketing which involved producing creative ideas, creating an internal event poster, using social media and external websites to promote the event. Doing this role I have learnt professional administrative skills, improved on my ability to work in a fast paced environment and have gained more experience on working with events in the Charity/Non-Profit sector.

The Big Outdoor Show

  • During this set up of this event I worked as an event staff who was responsible for making sure that all exhibitors were registered and received their packs in order to set up their stalls. As the event begun my main role was to work in the box office were attendees would either purchase or collect their wristbands. Working in the box office helped me improve on my customer service skills, my ability to work in a team, my ability to work in a fast paced environment as it was very busy on the bank holiday Monday.

  • Voluntary I worked with a team to put on an event that caters to lovers of writing by having performances from poets, writers, monologue speakers and story tellers. My main role in team was to find and liaise with the acts whilst assisting the marketing of event in terms of creating strategies and using social media. Working on this event I have learnt the importance of working against a planned schedule and the importance of every element of an event as it can have either a negative or positive impact on an attendee’s experience.

  • This role consisted of working within a team to aid a charity organisation known as NorPip in putting on a fundraising event at the Silverstone Circuit. This included creating the concept, budgeting, sourcing suppliers, arranging entertainment, volunteer recruitment...etc. My main role was to assist in the marketing of the event which included designing the flyer, creating E-shots, creating strategies and designing any other promotional items. Working on this event I was able to improve on my communication skills, team working skills, marketing skills, the ability to multi-task and work under pressure. Overall with 500 + attendees the event was a success as it ran smoothly on the day and we raised over £5,000.
