Hi! I’m a writer, researcher and cultural historian based in London.
I write regular features on music, history and the arts for a wide range of publications including BBC Music Magazine, BBC History Magazine, Who Do You Think You Are? Magazine, Coast Magazine and Opera Magazine. I have also curated several exhibitions and worked as a researcher on a series of high-profile documentary films.
My academic research has been published in a number of books and journals. I work mainly on nineteenth-century culture, and have particular interests in musical celebrity, death masks and Pre-Raphaelite art. I occasionally write about twentieth century music, too. My work has been funded by fellowships and awards from institutions including Princeton University and the National Portrait Gallery.
I’m currently writing a book on palmistry in Victorian London.
