I'm a Communication Designer and an Educator, and a Researcher. I have won National and International Awards for my graphic design, and my work has featured in publications such as Creative Review, Graphic Design USA, Page magazine and in books like Logo Lounge and Logolicious. In my two-decade career as a practitioner, I designed logos and brochures and websites and annual reports and packaging... the full gamut of what a graphic designer does. But these days, my time is mainly concerned with the development of the future generation of designers in my role as Lecturer in Visual Communication Design at the Dublin School of Creative Arts at TU Dublin. I have both a Masters Degree in Professional Design Practice and a Bachelors degree in Design & Visual Communications both from the Dublin Institute of Technology, and I am currently researching my Doctorate on how Communication Design Enterprises Utilise Entrepreneurship Processes. I have delivered many research papers at international design conferences and published in peer-reviewed journals. I was a co-researcher for the Irish Government's "Policy Framework for Design In Enterprise in Ireland" and was a consultant for the Expert Group on Future Skills Needs' "Winning by Design" report. I am a committee member of the Institute of Designers in Ireland and a Co-Founder and Design Editor of "Iterations - Design Research and Practice Review" journal.
