The Merlin Group are Ireland's largest auction company with three operating companies Merlin Car Auction, Merlin Property and Ganly Craige (Plant & Machinery). My role was to manage and co ordinate the daily activity of all staff, working processes and operations for each of the group businesses. Below are some additional details of tasks competed in this role: - Reporting directly to the Group Managing Director Implemented and introduced new fee structures across the group, resulting in an increase in sales and attracted a wider consumer audience to our services. Identified and improved operational efficiencies and reduced costs in each of the groups businesses, Merlin Property, Ganly Craigie and Merlin Car Auctions. Responsible for managing three separate companies, with 30 staff reporting directly to me in the following areas: sales, business development, marketing, investments, logistics, facility operations, and security. Participated in and coordinated the planning of group charitable events, helping to raise €350,000 for Irish Autism Action. Successfully steered the group through a difficult transition period upon the closure of two of the group’s companies, maintaining a positive reputation throughout the industry and a consistent and pleasant working environment for staff. As a committee chair, I won numerous awards for the group including Deloitte Best Managed Company (2011) and A Great Place to Work (2012) from the Great Place to Work Institute.
Ireland went through an economic recession in 2008. During this period and the following years many Irish businesses and consumers alike unfortunately could not repay loans to finance companies and therefore had to hand back their assets for auction. My role at the time was too develop a system and service which would allow receivers, liquidators and corporate restructures to sell assets in a fast, seamless and transparent manner whilst getting the best possible return for those assets. - Reported directly to the Managing Director Executed online and offline marketing strategies designed to give the group a sustainable competitive advantage in this emerging market. Redesigned the stock system process to optimize asset preparation and presentation which significantly increased conversion rates by 30%. Responsible for the creation and implementation of comprehensive sales and business development procedures that led to an increase in clients and referrals.
Operated the bi-weekly car auctions, as well as the monthly plant and machinery auctions, leading to asset sales in excess of €20m annually in domestic and international markets. Won exclusive tender disposal contracts for Volkswagen Bank, Cabot Financial, Bluestone Asset Management, GE Money (Pepper Asset Management), and Bank of Ireland Finance, which accounted for 40% of the group’s annual sales revenue at the time. Project managed two large off-site auctions that disposed of €2m worth of assets.
Merlin Motor City was Ireland's largest car supermarket averaging monthly car sales in the region of 250 vehicles. Below were some key functions which I had to perform in my role as Business Manager. ?To work alongside a diverse sales team in helping them close as many sales as possible. ?Motivated and lead a highly effective sales team in a challenging trading environment. ?Managed all financial documentation and communication between customers and credit providers so that all compliance procedures where adhered to. ?Managed the distribution of sales leads to the sales team and also follow up on their progression.
Managed and motivated a team of claim handlers to efficiently process their workloads and effectively negotiate settlements for all fleet claims, as well as both private and non-private motor claims. Oversaw the claim investigation process from beginning-to-end and had a hand in all reporting, fact finding, follow-up interviews, and settlement negotiation.
As full time Students Union (SU) President I managed & lead all other elected SU members including a Vice President, Clubs & Societies Officer and Welfare Officer. Throughout my term I represented over 1,000 full time, part time and mature students on various academic and national councils.

We won this award for launching the first live online auction bidding platform in Ireland.
As operations manager for the Merlin Group, we won a Deloitte Best Managed Company Award.
