About me
I am a freelance journalist who specialises in the arts, culture and history of the 1960s. I like to write about history more broadly, too, including features on politics and economics. I've written for publications like The Financial Times, The Guardian, The Independent, The Spectator, The i and others. Until recently, I was employed at a thought leadership agency as a PR executive and copywriter. I worked on projects for some of the world's biggest companies, including reports on sustainable development and world trade that appeared at Davos.

Stayin’ alive! How music has fought pandemics for 2,700 years (The Guardian)Here's an article I wrote recently for The Guardian. Before 'pandemic pop', 'balcony concerts', 'virtual gigs' (and Bono's single) were ever a thing, music has been used as a tool for restoration and healing against disease for 2,700 years.
  • Damo Suzuki of Krautrockers Can is still chasing a unique sound (The Financial Times)
Damo Suzuki of Krautrockers Can is still chasing a unique sound (The Financial Times)Here's an article I published with The Financial Times. It's a write-up of an interview I held with Damo Suzuki, the ex-frontman and vocalist of the seminal German band Can. It was a fascinating conversation to say the least, and it certainly ranks among the more strange chats I've had in the past year. As it happens, some of the best material had to be left on the cutting room floor. Who knew that our chats about tripping on acid to Cliff Richard wouldn't be FT-friendly?
