Freelance retouching for a variety of clients.
My current experience at Selfridges has been to work on the new art design with the team to ensure image consistency, quality and productivity. Working on a high volume of images per day I had to work under pressure to meet daily deadlines. Ensuring daily targets were met without sacrificing quality has been extremely satisfying for me and has helped develop my retouching proficiency.
VCG Kestrel brought with it a series of challenges through advanced colour correction. In this role I learnt to retouch imagery to different print processes such as Litho and Flexo for the Marks and Spencer’s account. Using quick thinking and a sharp eye for detail I helped deliver quality control within all of Mark’s and Spencer’s packaging, ensuring that each range shared the same aesthetic and colour whether it was a simple litho colour grade or a complex flexo print process with a heavy tint. Working to tight deadlines on flexo work allowed me to use my intuitive to provide solutions to problems such as removing colours from food to better work with profiles to brainstorming with the team to ensure work stays consistent.
My latest experiences at AlexaandAlexa have illustrated my ability to work under pressure to strict deadlines. Working on 60-100 images per day made me focus on the products to maximise time on each piece. Knowing what colour to change and how to make the image look its best with such time constraints demonstrates my attention to detail while under pressure.
Retouching images at the BBC made editorial guidelines pivotal, ensuring quality and specifications for BBC iPlayer use. Working with the photo editing team to deliver a concise workflow and daily breakdown to ensure work is done efficiently and to the best possible standards.
My experience at Matrix Graphics made me adaptable to a busy social environment, with ongoing projects taught me the principles of working to different specifications, needs and restraints. This has been significantly noticeable in my colour correction and image preparing, where I needed to produce print ready versions of my edited works, whether for 39 Litho, Mag or Newspaper spec. Learning the different restraints of both srgb or cmyk colour gamut demonstrate my attention to detail through colour and texture, to ensure quality control for print and web.
