As part of this signet ring company I successfully achieved a high standard in luxury customer service. Whilst assisting customers with bespoke artwork designs during private one to one consultations or via email, I was also responsible for processing online orders using Magento and Brightpearl retail software. My role also entailed of managing post and assisting my manager and boss with daily tasks. We all worked as a team as it was essential to converse throughout the day, building our trust for one another and the strength of the business.
During my time at this small jewellery workshop I was responsible for all customer service, including management of the workshop. I managed all financial aspects with weekly updates on Quickbooks software. I would assess the daily work load of finished and unfinished work, pioritising and allocating. My experience here was a clear insight into the everyday running of a small workshop within the trade giving me the chance to expand my knowledge in the jewellery industry.
As a Graduate Academic Assistant for the Fashion Textiles course, I assisted with admin, managed timetables and registers. I solely designed and delivered practical workshops for the students allowing me to share my skills and knowledge through extra support and one to one tutorials. I supported tutors during technical lessons and attended training in learning and teaching, providing me with support and techniques to practice within my role.
By shadowing and assisting the Head Designer, I was provided with a hands-on experience and introduced to an extensive array of creative ideas. I improved my machine and hand sewing skills as I was taught new techniques. I spent some time researching and creating moodboards for the collection. I was trained to use Zedonk; a fashion and design computer filing system and I had the pleasure of assisting the team at their London Fashion Week Show 2013.
During my time here I delivered bridal consultations and customer service throughout appointments and fittings allowing me to develop my people skills. I managed payments and orders as well as assisted in the studio with machine and hand sewing. I gained the trust of my employer to run the business solely on a day-to-day basis, whilst still learning new skills and developing known techniques by an experienced dressmaker.
