Hello! My name is Elena and I am an Artist based in Bristol, UK.
I like to explore a range of media within my work and I am enthusiastic about learning new techniques and skills. My work is often playful and energetic with a focus on character, colour and humour. I am influenced by Film, Television, Science Fiction and History; the odder the better. The combination of the surreal and the mundane is a reoccurring theme in my work; and my work often features Monsters, Myths and Aliens.
Projects
- Honest HistoryI worked with Honest History earlier in the year, creating four quarter page illustrations. The project had a tight deadline, however the editor and I had great communication. Thumbnails were drawn, sent and decided on in a day and the final pieces were made and sent in less than two days. I really enjoyed this project, as I love history and discovering new facts. I know that I would have loved this magazine as a child and it was so special to be part of it!
- Baba Yaga HouseI am influenced by folklore and monsters, and read about Baba Yaga through researching Folktales to inspire me. The vision of the chicken legged house caught my imagination and I had to draw it. The image stayed with me and evolved into a lino print and a painting before it was finally exorcised.
