Work history
Senior Designer
As a senior member of the Preschool Design Team, my role at Ladybird is diverse and creative, requiring excellent working relationships across all parts of the business. I am experienced in working as part of a highly collaborative team to create evergreen book formats for the preschool market.
I consistently bring creative energy and inspiring ideas to a list, whilst actively leading and driving big projects forward from initial concept to print. Working closely with editorial, I manage multiple brands and frequently liaise with illustration agencies, whilst working collaboratively with illustrators and authors to ensure all publishing is of the highest quality.
I make confident design decisions and am comfortable engaging with the strategic dimensions of publishing, in order to strategize on both front list and co-editions. Eager to think creatively and problem solve, I push formats and ideas with an immaculate eye for detail, while confidently presenting work in-house and giving design feedback to colleagues and illustrators.
Being extremely organised, I am experienced in prioritising my workload as well as coordinating freelancers and mentoring junior design members.
I manage a variety of preschool books, ranging from baby board books and preschool novelty to early learning, non-fiction and first reading, and publish into both printed and digital formats. I have designed a range of different novelty formats such as flap, clock, tab and sound books, of which some series have expanded into picture books. I’ve also looked after the top-selling Pirate Pete and Princess Polly series and its recent redesign. The Potty books still remain Ladybird’ best-selling titles month-on-month.
My key series include Baby Touch, Skullabones Island, Ladybird Tales, Pirate Pete and Princess Polly, Topsy and Tim, I'm Ready and In the Night Garden.
