About me

Oh hi! I'm a creative and strategic communications & social media girl, experienced working across image and text, and sometimes even numbers. My own Instagram presence might be that of a geriatric patient but I'd like to think of it as a sort of work life balance: for others I'm entirely capable of orchestrating experiences and driving sales through that. I guess the abridged version of me is that from setting up marketing calendars to producing content for social channels, I'm a well-rounded creative ready to go above and beyond any expectations. My work has luckily involved both the visual and the written - I can write trade materials, press releases, product descriptions, promotional copy and blog posts on art, music and fashion, and I've grown close friends with my Wacom tablet. I'm also great at assembling IKEA furniture and I've created a WordPress website for a brand new events company. From template though - I'm not THAT multitalented. Either way, I'd like to think I have a pretty great work ethic. Having collaborated with lots of bloggers and retailers like Harvey Nichols, Nordstrom and Wildfang, I'd like to think I've a pretty decent network of contacts in the fashion industry too...

Work history

Communications Coordinator

Sep 2015
  • My freelancing has included copywriting, editing and translating for different companies, managing castings, assisting with art direction, setting up digital strategies, launching websites and designing promo images for club nights and pop-up shops. I like a bit of variety. My most regular work has been with the London footwear brand Kat Maconie where I worked alongside Hayley Lidgett, the former head of marketing at Ted Baker. I initially went in to consult on their social media strategies but stayed on quite regularly - first to help with the promo of their Old Street pop-up and creating assets for their website, newsletter and social media, but stayed on to help them launch their new website and create a carefully considered marketing calendar. Additionally I've worked with Dance Tunnel, Laura Apsit Livens, Shaa Wasmund MBE and The Bar Guys.

Communications Coordinator

Nov 2013 - Nov 2015
  • I planned and executed its social media strategy. Sourcing and producing content to build brand profile, I grew Miista’s Instagram following from 8k to 63k, and doubled it on Twitter and Facebook. Another important part of the job was blogger and press engagement, and I have built great relationships with dozens of top fashion influencers around the globe. I have been responsible for managing collection launches, pop-up stores and sample sales. The position included working closely with the design team on creative ideas, photoshoots and promotional graphics, and the sales team to set targets and promote products and retailers.

Production Assistant

May 2013 - Nov 2013
  • My role revolved around the technical side of STM publishing with responsibilities including proof-reading, XML checking, working with images and graphs. Additionally I was a point of contact for typesetters, developers and authors. Learnt a lot of technical stuff but didn't find my calling in creating graphs out of data I couldn't actually read.

Editorial Intern

Dazed Media

Apr 2013 - May 2013
  • I worked with the Dazed Digital editorial team. My main roles were to assist the team in research for upcoming articles, copyediting and proofreading submissions from freelancers and sourcing relevant imagery to illustrate articles. I researched and came up with interview questions for different artists and did small write-ups of my own. Despite the brevity of it, working under Charlie Robin Jones proved really valuable - obviously having done a degree helped, but it was here that I learned about creating content with a specific audience in mind.

Freelance Media Analyst

Gorkana Group

Mar 2013 - Oct 2013
  • Spent lots of time reading about beer and mobile phones, i.e. going through media coverage to provide an overview of a brand’s portrayal in the media, focussing on how their core values come across and what the response to their PR strategies are like. Accounts I worked on included Samsung and Heineken in the UK, Irish and Estonian press.

Writing for the Media

University Of Greenwich

Aug 2010 - May 2013
  • My three year degree focussed on writing for in different media contexts, with a specific focus on tailoring content for the web, creative nonfiction and screenwriting. I also experimented film film direction and editing, curation, publishing and graphic design.
