My name is Ellen, known to my friends as ‘Els’.
I am a qualified Interior Architect with knowledge of both retail and residential design and have been working professionally for 5 years.
I love all aspects of design, particularly the initial client interaction and discussion around what they want to achieve within the project. I treasure the fact that people come to YOU for your help and advise within designing their home, and I am respectful of this when working with them. They have entrusted you within their personal space and to make their vision come to life. Getting inside someone’s head, understanding their ideas and interpreting this into designs and mood boards is something I relish.
Projects
- Shed - Office ConversionWith more of us working from home, clients are wanting that extra little space away from the house. I was drafted in to assist in designing the space so that it would become a comfortable home office escape, but with the flexibility of being able to still use the space as a shed.
Work history
DesignerBrinkworth
- London, United KingdomFull Time
During my time with Brinkworth I worked within retail, high end residential and hospitality design.
My main responsibilities were; layout plans, internal and external elevations, visuals, detailed drawings, furniture schedules (FF&E), as well as producing mood and sample boards to sit alongside design presentations.
Brinkworth has enabled me to develop my retail design skills and has allowed me to be more creative.
Sketching is a large part of the initial design process and this has enabled me to get my ideas across in a quick and concise fashion. In December 2019, Brinkworth put on an external 3 day Cinema4D training course to aid with our 3D visualisation and design communication.
I worked as part of a team, with my job role consisting of;
- Working on projects from conceptual sketching through to final drawing packs and delivering the
projects within tight deadlines
- Liaising with suppliers to discuss specified materials and alternatives where necessary.

- Hitchin, United KingdomFull Time
Having worked in this position for over two years, I was responsible for my own projects and worked
independently as well as collaborating within the small team.
Meeting and discussing clients’ needs and wishes is something that I am confident with and enjoy, as Iunderstand that this is a fundamental part of any creative and collaborative process.
I have a good working knowledge of UK planning laws as well as working with local councils due to the residential nature of our practice’s main area of focus.
Working within a small team enabled me to learn from our design technologist’s expertise and
knowledge.
