I have worked over the past four years with an international contemporary art gallery, meeting new critically acclaimed artists, helping to organise and attend art exhibitions and liaising with a vast number of clients. From this interaction I have learnt great interpersonal skills, I am confident talking to new people and have had sales training for both over the phone and one to one selling within the gallery. I have learnt how to deal with the general public and with more regular clients the importance of keeping ongoing strong and positive relationships. Marketing is key within any business and I have acquired the skill sets to help drive the gallery forward effectively through different social channels. Research and the writing of press releases, blog, twitter, facebook and dealing with journalists for marketing opportunities; this has enabled me to have a new insight into the luxury art world.

     - Bristol, United KingdomInternship
During my final year of University, I achieved my placement at Speed Communications where I became part of the team instantly and worked well with all of my colleagues. It enabled me to grasp more about the world of PR giving me an insight into how important it is for companies and I gained invaluable knowledge. I am now able to have a greater understanding of the relationship between a client’s brand and the consumer market, having worked closely with luxury brands and well-known products it is essential to be thinking of new and creative ways to ‘draw’ in the consumer market. I was able to work effectively and hard within this fast-paced new environment, meeting multiple deadlines on a variety of diverse projects. I worked across all sectors of the PR industry and achieved a fantastic understanding of how to be successful in the PR industry. I conducted media audits, journalist opportunities and worked with new electronic structures within the company; working on PR projects from consumer and lifestyle, food and hospitality to business and corporate. All of these projects allowed me to work collaboratively and independently on an array of campaigns that gave me a greater understanding of how the consumer marketplace can be manipulated.

My passion for the art of literature has taught me how to analyse texts from different theoretical stances and to be able to formulate my own opinions on literature. This has also broadened my knowledge on both historical and philosophical contexts. This knowledge has allowed me as a person to become more analytical and an independent free thinker, formulating my own opinions on the world around us. I have also learnt how to write and be adaptable in our fast-evolving modern world; becoming computer literate with blogging and social media, to writing press releases and journal articles. My degree has taught me to become a well-rounded creative thinker, it has also provided me with an extra level of intelligence and understanding for the world we live in.
