About me
My name is Ellie Murphy. I am a graduate of The University of Manchester, with a degree in Linguistics and Screen Studies. My degree has provided me with a well rounded knowledge of the entertainment industry, as well as strong research and writing skills and an invaluable ability to meet challenging deadlines. Since graduating, my management internship with Rough Diamond Productions in Los Angeles has given me a practical insight into the entertainment industry. Here, my responsibilities included writing copy for the Artists for Change website and assisting with branding and logo design, updating and maintaining the company's social media presence, creating log lines for upcoming features and attending Writers' Rooms. I have also had writing experience working in marketing and PR. This, as well as my degree, has provided me with a strong proficiency across all Microsoft Office softwares, particularly Word. In the marketing team at Allsop LLP I was given a number of responsibilities, including writing features for the internal magazine and copy for their monthly newsletter. In addition, I drafted a number of press releases and produced copy for marketing materials during my internship with Chime Communications. Writing is one of my pleasures. I am an avid reader and creative writer and have a growing collection of short stories. I pride myself on my ability to deliver quality content, in a range of styles and genres, whilst meeting challenging deadlines. In the New Year, I plan to enter my stories into a number of short story competitions. In addition to my writing skills, I have always had a keen eye for fashion. My work experience as a stylist for Loose Women at ITV Studios allowed me to demonstrate my eye for creative detail. Here, I assisted with styling and also helped pick out items for fashion segments on This Morning. Throughout my work, I have consistently loved being part of team in fast paced and high pressured environments. For me, this extends outside of the workplace. At University, I was chosen to represent Manchester's 1st XV Women's' Rugby Team and also played for Didsbury Women's Rugby Club. Rugby has given me a deeper level of confidence, both on and off the pitch. I believe the sport is incredibly empowering; teaching women to be resilient, determined and overcome literal barriers whilst supporting each other in a team. I am self motivated, very personable and have a unique sense of humour.
