- Evil & Wicked Spirit"Evil & Wicked Spirit" was the graduation project I was involved in as the cinematographer at film school, we had a very successful Indiegogo campaign and gathered 10k in British pound sterling in total for the production budget. We had to overcome many difficulties and obstacles in order to fully achieve our vision, we had a relatively large crew with many extras, an excessive amount of shots, shooting in an unfamiliar location etc. But we've managed to achieve what we had in mind and the film turned out beautifully, now our film has already been selected by various film festivals across Europe.

I’m working as a production assistant/transcript translator for artist Erni Li’s documentary directorial debut <If You Set Out for Ithaca>, a feature length documentary that emphases on the cultural connections between different Mediterranean countries as well as the impact on those countries from the impending refugee crisis, characters within the film spoke up to 30 languages. My main responsibilities include:
• Liaison with translators from different countries, ensuring the deadlines were met and interpret the detailed instruction to them from the director.
• Help to translate part of the transcript from English to Mandarin Chinese.
• Liaison with film database such as IMDB to ensure that information of the film on their website is verified and updated regularly.
• Assisting the director during post-production stage with various technical problems.
I work remotely from home in London for this job.

Working as a Freelance filmmaker has given me many professional and transferable skills, so far I’ve worked on numerous productions in various roles, mainly in the camera and editorial department. I’ve learnt how to work under pressure while having a tight schedule, how to liaison with people from different backgrounds within a short amount of time, communicate and cooperate with interdepartmentally, etc. My biggest achievement during this period working in Lebanon for a short film production called <Al Hamar> as Grip, it was a completely foreign environment for me and the conditions were quite harsh, yet I adapted to it and formed connections with the crew quickly, ensured the smooth running of the production.

Going to film school had been an exceptionally rewarding learning experience for me, aside from obtaining the necessary skills that could potentially build a route to enter the film industry for me, I have specialised in both Cinematography and Editing during my film school time, but also dabbled in various other aspects as well such as sound recording, producing and drama directing. The highlight of my time was our graduation project, a period drama set in Victorian England which I worked on as the Director of Photography, it was shot in the open air museum of Chichester and is currently being exhibited around dozens of short film festivals around Europe and South America.
Overall filmmaking had taught me a number of other valuable skills aside from what I have mentioned which includes punctuality, disciplined work ethic and the team spirit, I deem those qualities as beneficial in any given jobs I might receive in the future.
