I graduated from Central Saint Martins with a degree on graphic design, but I've always wanted a business card that would say "visual communication" or "visual designer." Then I read an article about how visual designers get upset with graphic designers, who go around calling themselves visual designers, and I didn't want to get in any kind of trouble, so I decided to describe myself as a graphic designer. I really enjoy making typography and photography look good together, especially when they're combined with a simple, clean and effective design. I guess the new business card should probably say "editorial designer", even though I don't know how visual designers would feel about that. I have a passion for magazine design; I love magazines and I'm probably the guy you see in Magma, discreetly trying to smell the pages of Monocle and apartamento. Design for print, typography and art direction are what make most of my work experience; I have worked for clients such as Time Inc., the UCL Urban Laboratory and Hunter Boots, to name a few. As a freelance designer and artworker, I have joined creative and design agencies, working alongside some lovely and talented creative directors, designers and copywriters on editorial, branding and art direction projects.Locked Pro Plan feature
As part of the graphics team, I worked with the architecture, planning and landscape teams on the design of bid documents as well as the branding of new residential developments.
For this freelance project, I artworked a wide range of print materials and coaching tools and designed a series of Keynote presentations, accommodating different languages as well as different screen resolutions.
For this three-week project, I worked with the editorial team at TfL on the design of the second issue of OnRoute, a magazine about cab drivers and the private hire trade.
Liaising with the production planner and the editors, I was working on Keynote presentations, ensuring brand and style guidelines were applied correctly and making changes where necessary. I also worked on a design proposal for a playbook and did visual research for an emerging fashion brand.
Joining the Luxury Hub of the group, I designed pages for beauty, fashion and lifestyle stories for Marie Claire and LOOK magazines.
For wallpaper.com, I uploaded stories and galleries and worked on the front-end development of bespoke pages, and for the magazine, I laid out pages for the October issue.
Working as a freelancer, I designed the sales packages for the UK, EU and US sales teams of TheNewsMarket and at AIR, I worked on the design of annual reports and the image research for brand guidelines projects.
For this six-week freelance project, I worked closely with the project manager on the Autumn/Winter 2015 trade guide, designing the pages for Footwear, Outerwear and Accessories.
Worked for national and regional markets, designing outdoor advertising campaigns for a wide range of clients and for promotion in the London Underground and the TfL buses.
As a freelancer, I joined creative and design agencies, working as a graphic designer and artworker on editorial design and branding projects.
Designed for print and online projects, for international healthcare companies and their brands and provided creative support to account teams in London and New York.
