About me
Multi-disciplinary Textile Designer specialised in mixed-media and surface innovation. Throughout my practice I explore how materiality and tactility can be utilised to promote wellness in humans and the environment. My investigations into sensory stimulating, 3D surfaces aim to re-connect people with their primary senses and consequently the surrounding environment.
Projects

Surface Enriched SpacesThere is empirical evidence that design which reconnects humans to natural contents and landscape configurations helps to enhance human wellbeing; with positive, therapeutic consequences on physiology. This is Biophilic design. However, currently 80% of people in the most economically advanced nations now live in urbanised areas, spending over 90% of their time indoors. Specialised in mixed-media and embroidery, my hybrid approach to textile design is prominently focused on how materiality and tactility can be used to promote human and/or environmental wellness. Utilising a strongly developed and varied mixture of handcraft and digital techniques, I create surfaces that encourage tactile play and investigation into environmentally charged subject matter. My skillset spans across 3D print, laser, hand and machine embroidery, quilting, fabric manipulation, drawing and print. These processes are married together to create augmented versions of nature derived surfaces that aim to impact people and spaces positively.
