Music Editor and Arts Writer, The Independent – January 2015 to April 2016
I commissioned and edited all music content in Radar as well as writing and commissioning arts features and reviews for the daily paper and website including theatre, film, TV and books, occasionally covering for the arts editor and deputy. I also wrote a weekly column and a TV and Radio page in the i Weekend section.
Deputy Editor of Going Out, London Evening Standard – April 2013 to January 2015
My job was to manage the GO London team, liaise with the features editor and commission, edit and write stories about culture, food and drink for the Going Out section of the Evening Standard paper and website. I also filmed and edited TV packages for TV channel London Live and appeared as a talking head on ‘Daily Grind’.
Social Media Editor and Writer, The Independent and i – April 2011 to April 2013
The role involved promoting stories using social media, creating social media campaigns, writing news, editing the Technology section, briefing senior members of staff, encouraging a data-driven culture across the newsroom and writing a weekly column for i. I helped set up the Indy Voices microsite alongside the editor and head of content; this was the first team at The Independent to fully integrate print and online.
