I’m Emily, an illustrator, comic artist and mural maker. In my work I aim to find humour in the mundane, celebrating hilarity of tiny moments through observations in my everyday life. I enjoy communicating these ideas through my paintings, drawings, maps and zines, championing everyday people. I aim to create work that challenges our perception on perspective, not always following the rules capturing imperfect, fun outcomes. I’m fascinated by quirkiness in everyday life and enjoy creating beautiful and funny illustrations that feature my curious, abstract figures, colours and patterns. Working with the academic faculty and students I deliver digital skills sessions for students teaching skills in Adobe software including InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premier, After Effects. Preparing students with a well-rounded exposure to the digital interfaces they will require to build successful careers in the world of commercial art and Design. We cover topics from digital illustration, animation, setting up files for print, web design and more. My role includes organisation and maintenance of the studio space including the setup of Wacom Displays and the on-site RISO printer. I also guest lecture as an illustrator imparting my experience as a freelancer to students. My first hand accounts, combined with live workshops put skills into real world contexts.
