Passionate, curious graphic designer with ruthless attention to detail WLTM collaborators, employers and funders. Is also a practised copyeditor and proofreader, rare skills which happen to complement design beautifully. GSOH, BBC, VPL. TTFN.
In-house designer for government body. My role involves the creation of a variety of publications for web and print. I also work on concepts and artworking for short term campaigns and create promotional materials and exhibition stands. I also proactively provide extensive language-based input including copy editing, house styling and proof reading (a really valuable complementary skill which many other graphic designers don't possess). I also do video editing using Adobe Premiere Pro. A government requirement is that our designs meet WCAG 2.0 accessibility standards which make the content accessible to everybody regardless of ability. This creates unique challenges because it can be pretty restrictive. I also perform a brand guardian role within the organisation and offer design advice internally. I do picture research, retouching and create original vector illustrations. I am questioning and curious, and I proactively seek areas for improvement and work to increase efficiency and quality of output, with measurable results. I was nominated for an organisational 'star' award in 2015. Personally praised on scorpion design by the Rt Hon Steve Webb MP, then Minister for Pensions. This campaign also won an award for Public Service Communications Excellence.
Product development and specification, photoshoot management, design of marketing materials, artworking, illustration, copywriting for instruction booklets, proofreading and commissioning translations into 6 languages. Multi-tasking and maintenance of strict delivery schedule under pressure.
