About me
Emma Green is a contemporary illustrator working within the Children’s Picture Book industry and Surface Design. Stylistic experiments with pattern, texture and colour are initially rendered through hand-based processes including sketching, cut out paper collage and other craft techniques. These elements are then furthered and layered through digital experimentation. Focused on narratives inspired by the world around us and its creatures, the audience is engaged in a playful and light-hearted visual language. In this way, the people and animals of everyday life develop into characters that make the viewer smile. Childhood play and imagination guide the ideas behind illustrations conveying an attractive naivety but which simultaneously demonstrate a contemporary aesthetic on the cutting edge of commercial illustrative practice.
Projects
  • Ever Wondered
Ever WonderedEver wondered where those odd socks go? Well listen close cos' I just might know. 'Ever Wondered' is a children's book project illustrated by myself and written by Abby Reilly.
  • Tropical Animals
Tropical AnimalsWithin my masters in illustration at the Arts University Bournemouth I explored themes and ideas around tropical animals. For this project I created a variety of illustrations and pattern designs which I then printed onto fabric to create my own home wear products.
