During November 2014, I completed a work placement at Marie Claire Magazine. My role pertained to the fashion department, reporting primarily to the fashion office manager, as well as editors. My role was to manage the fashion cupboard, including handling all stock for upcoming photo shoots and organising the stock room. General tasks that I completed over the course of this internship included: fashion returns, dispatch collection and delivery, photocopying, filing, assisting the beauty department with the Marie Claire Award applications, data entry, assisting editors in any and all tasks, cleaning and general maintenance. During September and October 2014, I completed a work placement at both Who and Famous magazines. My general role was to assist any member of staff throughout the office across of a variety of departments and tasks. Some skills I developed and tasks I completed during this time include: transcribing interviews, fashion photo research, indexing of current issues, assisting with event planning (guest list and invitations for Who's 2014 Sexiest Party), maintenance of both fashion and beauty cupboards, drafting entertainment content, maintaining and updating event calendars, filing, photocopying, shooting apparel for fashion edits, fashion returns, dispatch collection, magazine mail outs.
During September, I completed a work placement at Girlfriend/Total Girl magazines. My overall role was to assist any and all staff within the office, as well as completing my own mini publication including cover, feature story, curated fashion edits and entertainment quizzes. Some tasks that I completed during this placement include: transcribing interviews, going to dispatch to collect and deliver parcels for editors, assisting the That's Life team with their weekly competition draw, draft copy for Total Girl December Issue (which was then approved for publication), implement efficient research processes, assist fashion editor with mock up preparation, maintain the fashion cupboard, organise beauty cupboard, filing, content writing, photo research.
Supporting all staff at The Good Guide with areas of media production and publication. Including but not limited to: writing reviews, drafting copy, updating contacts and client files, writing online blogs, reviewing/promoting events, food reviews etc.
Interned in the fashion and beauty cupboards. Aided the fashion assistant in managing the flow of samples and goods throughout the office including: returning goods, collecting goods, filing, organising and cataloging products, as well as assisting in styling for shoots within the magazine.
Interned at Famous magazine across the whole department including the following: - Assisted the sub-editor and photographic researcher in choosing images to purchase - Researched celebrity quotes and information for lifestyle and beauty editor - Researched and wrote lifestyle piece for current issue - Assisted in filming 'net-page' how to segment - Tested beauty products and wrote reviews for Famous website - Filed and cataloged beauty products and media releases - Styled and shot beauty products with Beauty Assistant - Completed and shot swatches for beauty department
Assisting the Director in all duties including but not limited to: writing and managing social media content, scheduling content for Facebook business pages, writing media releases, managing 'The Intern Diaries' blog posts, researching for clients, website content proposals, updating databases, liasing with stakeholders, attending and scribing meetings, brainstorming communication strategies.
Collaboration with business owner and staff to create blog posts (through Wordpress) on various topics and activities in line with the businesses values, interests and ideals. Assist in promoting the website and store through social media (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram), assist in store events such as Paddington Up Late (November 28 2012) in regards to setting up, helping customers, taking photographs and promotions. Photo editing using websites such as Photobucket and Pixlr to aid in enhancing the appearance of blog posts to customers.
Created key networking opportunities and relationships with store owners in Paddington in order to promote the shopping district mainly throughout the Christmas and summer season. This involved connecting with store owners, gaining information regarding new products and events, taking photographs of customers for 'street style', editing photos online using software websites such as Photobucket and Pixlr, feeding all information and photos through the Hootsuite program to post on Facebook at particular times during each day of the week, management of the PaddingtonShoppingStrip Facebook page.
Provide the best customer service, increase sales and profits and maintained and placed stock. Styled women for weddings, formals and the races; cleaned and organised the store; and created a positive working environment. Understands the value of brand and business, the impact customer interaction can have on sales, and the importance of a strong, efficient team.
