I provided general administrative support for the restaurant's office and restaurant's direct customer service. I used the reservations system, "ResDiary", to create and manage reservations for the Ubiquitous Chip and its two sister restaurants (Stravaigin and Hanoi Bike Shop). I also received reservations via phone calls and email inquiries. This job challenged me to manage office responsibilities as well as the varying complications that arise on a regular basis in each restaurant.

I am studying both practical and theoretical skills in modern journalism. Specifically, I am studying international security and war reporting. I am keen to develop my knowledge on these topics whilst also developing a more broad knowledge of journalism as a practice and those aspects that are challenging the sector. For instance, I am currently studying media bias and digital advances in the field. Alongside my classes, I am an active member of GUST - Glasgow University Student Television. I am also studying Arabic, Level 1, and plan to continue studying next term.

After covering a broad range of subject areas for my first two years, I narrowed my interests to the role power plays in international politics. Of course, this permitted me to interpret many different aspects of the international political economy. My dissertation was titled, "Closing the gap between high ideals and low politics; an ‘ethics of care’ applied to the European Union’s response to the Syrian Refugee Crisis." In this, I devoted a chapter to analysis the UK media's representation of refugees. Other work during my final year focused on the relationship between humanity and the climate and how this relationship was presented by the media. I was fortunate to have an academic article published in the Queen's Political Review. It is available here: https://view.joomag.com/test-drive/0079525001464102259?short.
