Senior Advisor in Equality, Diversity and InclusionThe Electoral Commission
- London, United KingdomFull Time
This was a fixed term contract role to create and deliver a new ED&I programme for the Commission which is a non-Governmental body responsible for the regulation of UK elections and party political finance. I developed a two year programme aimed at improving equality metrics for the organisation, which included creating and rolling out training to all staff. Key deliverables were engagement with staff across the organisation and throughout the UK; creation of the 2 year ED&I programme; events to raise awareness including Stress Awareness Week and a new wellbeing programme, PRIDE, International Women’s Day, Disability Awareness; creation of Commission-wide compulsory testing and development regarding unconscious bias; review of application packs and interview processes. Ensuring compliance with the Public Sector Equality Duty was fundamental to the role: I upgraded the Equality Impact Assessment process and introduced reporting to maintain compliance with the Duty. Working in the Finance and Corporate Services Directorate, I was responsible for business transformation in relation to my field and following the 2019 General Election, I contributed to the Corporate Plan, which outlines objectives for the organisation. Equality, Diversity and Inclusion became a focus for the organisation whilst I was in post and I believe it will continue to be so.
